Does the phrase “mind control” conjure up memories of 900 deaths rom cyanide poisoning in 1978 Jonestown under the spell of peoples’ Temple founder Jim Jones? While scientists enjoy writing bout mental management from the perspective of bizarre external manipulation, that is not all there is to mind control!

Take this example, for instance. You’ve just been introduced to a gorgeous woman at a party. Politely you ask where she’s from before offering to refresh her drink. She says, “Well, I’m originally from New Jersey, but you know how people talk about Jersey, so I moved to New York, though I still get over to Jersey to see my family every couple of months. You wouldn’t believe the traffic at the tunnel these days. But at least it isn’t the Minneapolis Bridge, ya know what I mean? Those poor people. Thirteen now I heard. Not as bad a Katrina. Can you believe New Orleans still hasn’t been rebuilt?”

However attractive, however long her legs and plump her lips, she does not have control of her mind, wouldn’t you agree? She cannot, in this example, corral her thoughts to keep on the subject of where she is from, let alone take an interest in you!

Hyperactive children are the same way. While playing with one toy, they glance up and see another they fancy, till about the moment they acquire it, then it’s off to a third. No wonder the little tykes cry and throw tantrums. They’re frustrated, of course! They
haven’t had a singularly satisfying experience all day. It’s much the same with the email yarn about the multitasker looking for her keys, finds her missing glasses, opens the mail, pays a bill, finds her half-consumed Coke, still hasn’t found her keys, etc., never
finishes a task all day, yet at the end of the day is completely exhausted.

People who “free associate” (without being prompted to), seem fuddled, forget a name as soon as they hear it or in other ways become tagged as “flakey,” barring a bona fide medical condition, may simply be lacking focus.

And that’s what meditation can help with.

Meditation is an act (or non-act, if you insist!) of controlling your mind. Whatever you’ve heard, the objective of meditation is 100% absolute focus. What you focus on is up to you and the form of meditation you are practicing. A few of the options are:

1. your breathing–nothing more and nothing less
2. a mantra, saying or affirmation
3. an ideal such as love or gratitude
4. a problem, such as how you are consumed with desire or suffering
5. a quiet mind (opinions on what this is vary)
6. swaying or some other form of rhythmic movement
7. a repetitive sound such as a beating drum, heart, etc.

The practice of meditation provides the benefits one might expect from a mental giant who controls his or her mind well. These cover a range of primarily mental and emotional abilities but can also touch upon physical strengths and possibly even diagnoses.

The first thing you might notice when meeting a person who has meditated regularly for a long time is the bright stillness of his o0r her eyes. I remember a disability insurance salesman who [ersuaded me more by his deep aqua eyes than by his presentation.

How could someone so still be dissembling or dishonest? His very eyes seemed to see my soul and exactly what I needed and could afford.

The second thing you may realize when talking with a meditator is they do not seem to be glancing around, looking for what’s going on in the background, or at their watch. They do not appear to be considering what they will say next. You wonder what you will say
after they say what they are going to say, but it is clear they have not yet decided what they will say because they are so olertly, intently still listening to you.

Could it be mediators put their own emotions through the same listening process? They certainly seem less frequently buffeted to and fro than a person who has not learned mental control. A hackneyed Psychology 101 question comes into play here: “Do you run
because you are scared, or are you scared because you are running?”
You may think fear sets off screaming, and it might. But screaming sets off far more fear, as you know if you enjoy horror movies!

What do greater focus, improved stillness and emotional control do to one’s body? Is it possible the acceptance meditation engenders lowers blood pressure, thus reducing the chances of heart attacks and stroke?

Studies bear out these benefits and more. But for a quick Do-I-Need-This” check, wouldn’t you really enjoy people listening attentively to your eyes?

If you are like most people you probably experience a constant chatter of noise in your head - the never ending to-do list, the self talk, the new ideas that bombard you constantly, managing the information overload - and so on.

If you are like most people you probably wish that you could just turn it off sometimes. I know that sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night with thoughts buzzing around and that’s the end of a good nights sleep - only to spend the next day on half power.

Readers have commented that when they use binaural beat technology, they have found that this frenetic head noise actually calms down and they can feel at peace for a while.

And as a result of that calming they have found that they make better, clearer decisions. They find that they are able to “think” again.

You know what I mean - sometimes you just need some space to actually pay attention to something.

If this sounds like something you’d like to experience then pick up your free demo and give it a whirl. Come back and tell us how it went.

Did you know that research shows that listening to binaural beat frequency audio tapes and CDs results in brain wave entrainment. This can bring about an altered state of consciousness in your mind. Some have called it instant meditation.

People who have tried this have experienced lucid dreams, become deeply relaxed, felt good and more aware and creative. Some have said that it has accelerated their learning or increased their psychic abilities.

Others have experienced better sleep patterns and reduction in their stress levels

Research has also shown that listening to binaural beat frequencies can bring about these changes very quickly. Apparently the effects of the binaural beat frequency causes the sub cortical auditory system of the brain to resonate at the same frequency and that’s what brings about the changes mentioned earlier.

Now I don’t know about you but anything that can help me relax, sleep better, think more creatively and feel great all in 5 minutes has to worth a try. So why not get your free demo and test it out. Come back and let us know what happened and how you felt.

Eight primary dynamics influence how binaural beats should be used and their effectiveness. Other minor points become obvious from considering these six.

First, it is not necessary to “believe in” binaural beats. Just as you may not understand everything about how your computer works, yet still may be able to use it to write a report, it is not necessary either to believe in nor to understand binaural beats for the technology to work for you. Just accept the premise of the technology, or the promise of the vendor, and try them.

Second, start with an audio for a purpose you are excited about improving. In other words, don’t pick some hard thing you aren’t even interested in. If you’ve never been drawn to meditation, don’t pick that one. Pick something on creativity or inventive thinking instead. On the other hand, if you’ve always wanted to meditate but just didn’t have the patience for the physical discipline of it, you might be thrilled with the results you derive from using a physical tool to accomplish something once so elusive to you.

Third, you must use stereo headphones. Technology may become available to make your computer or sound system speakers work with binaural beats, but for now, you must have a separate feed line to your right and left ears. Headphones are best because they block out all other sound. But ear buds will also work. If you have weakened hearing in one ear, and can adjust the volume separately so that both sides are approximately equal in volume, so much the better. But being hard of hearing in one ear will not curtail the usefulness of the technology for you. Remember, your brain is hearing the beat; your ears are taking in only the stimulus for the beat.

Fourth, do not operate heavy machinery or position yourself in a life-threatening environment when you need to devote 100% of your attention and hearing to the task at hand. For example, don’t operate heavy machinery while listening to the binaural beat audios. Don’t drive a car, because you should not have both ears otherwise engaged when you might need to be listening for sirens or other signals of danger. And finally, most binaural beat recordings include some segments of relaxation, even though the overall purpose of the audio might be to stimulate. Because you do not know where that section is or how strongly it might affect you any given day, be safe. “Don’t ‘beat’ and drive.”

Fifth, in most cases, sitting upright while listening, doing nothing else, will work. However, you may enhance your experience by aligning your activity with the purpose of the audio. For example, if you have chosen a recording for relaxation, position yourself in a relaxing location, sitting or lying down, depending upon the degree of relaxation you’re aiming for. If you’re using a recording for problem solving, you might go to your worksite and tackle the problem while you’re listening.

Sixth, adjust your frequency to your desired goals. If you simply want help relaxing on the occasional night you can’t sleep, you don’t need to set aside an hour before bedtime every night for your beat audio. But if you are wanting to train yourself in meditation or in higher brain functioning, a more regular schedule could produce more significant brain state changes. A quick pick-me-up or relaxing recording make great break activities during the workday.

Seventh, concentrating on the beat has been shown scientifically to increase the desired result. You don’t have to be able to hear it for the binaural beat technology to work. You may, on the other hand, hear a slight wavering tone or a whoosh like the air move by a fan blade turning across the room. Focusing on trying to hear the beat, listening for nuance, helps. And perhaps you will hear the beat.

Finally, try more than one audio. You may have a greater interest in or more significant response to one recording than another just as you are not equally drawn to all aspects of your life. Some parts of your life probably work better than others. Some audio files may trigger a more significant response in you than would others. Try several from Total Tranquility by Holothink.

Why not give binaural beats a try? Holothink offers a free 10-minute demo that will leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed – Try Binaural beats now.

The reason there’s so much buzz about binaural beats is the array of conditions they address that heretofore could only be dealt with through extended meditations or medications. Not that those aren’t valid ways to tackle either physical or emotional concerns. But what if you can’t meditate? Or what if you didn’t have to use drugs, sometimes considered toxic substances but the lesser of two ills?

What if I told you it might be possible to improve everything from your son’s Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to your mother’s getting-older-forgetfulness? Would that be of any interest to you?

That’s exactly why binaural beats are worth looking into and worth trying out. It isn’t a new technology. It’s been known for about 175 years. Perhaps originally more at home in the realms of mad scientists and brain doctors, as information about how the brain works becomes more widely known amongst ordinary people, there is greater acceptance for ideas that may have at the outset been considered on the fringe.

For modern acceptance today of any new-fangled pill, potion or power, you need only two things: a problem people have wrestled with for decades (such as stressed-out living) and the promise of an easy fix—the problem and the promise. Binaural beats of Total Tranquility by Holothink offer just that, virtually instant solutions to persistent problems.

Here are some examples.

Increased intellectual functioning by raising the frequencies the brain is aware of and attuned to, and bringing the left and right lobes together—or the frontal lobes and cerebellum (lower rear)—so that there is more coherence in brain functioning. Brain entrainment facilitates “whole brain” experiences such as whole brain thinking, whole brain art, and so forth. Yes, intelligence test scores can be increased.

Evolution of the human spirit, human consciousness, could be embraced and to a greater or lesser extent realized. Since consciousness can be manipulated by sound files, we could entrain our brains to a vibration of acceptance, peace, abundance and all good things, were we to so choose and devote ourselves. Binaural beats can be used to manage consciousness.

ADD and ADHD, epidemic in today’s children, can be modified by stimulating binaural beats in the 18-21 Hz range, about five to eight cycles above the low end of the beta brain wave range. In other words, increasing the alertness of the children through sound waves can improve their focus and concentration. Evidently these young people have an excess of theta wave activity in their brains. It isn’t that your children are ignoring you—they’re sleep walking!

Alcoholism has been successfully treated with an array of biofeedback, visualization and binaural beat technologies. The brain activity revealed by electroencephalographs of brains of alcoholics and their sons, indicates a brain marker of sorts for alcoholism—over-arousal of the cortex by alpha waves when sober, which could be perceived as agitation that can be medicated by fermented sugars—or calmed by entrainment to a lower alpha frequency. Over a year later, the alcoholics were still sober, suggesting the verity of long-term effects when properly entrained.

Memory loss in aging due to reduced ability to focus. While there are some medical conditions that are symptomized by memory loss, other kinds of memory loss commonly attributed to aging can be attributed to reduced arousal. In other words, some older folks are not concentrating, or they’re easily distracted, or thinking seems like too much effort. For these milder conditions of forgetfulness, binaural beats could be the intellectual fountain of youth many people are looking for.

One of the nicest things about binaural beat technology is that it seems to have taken the Hippocratic oath: “First, do no harm.” The sound files aren’t going to hurt you. The worst thing that can happen is that you might pop in the creativity/mental stimulation audio just as you crawl into bed. So you don’t sleep. Instead, you solve world hunger. Not a bad deal.

Brain entrainment has a cumulative effect that can permanently change consciousness. Entrainment is a technical term that indicates training toward a desired result. However, the result itself cannot be specified directly by the training technician. That’s the rub. The technician chooses the desired result, but getting the trainee to achieve that result is another matter.

Here’s a little background. Optimal brainwave function is usually on a certain frequency with a couple of other frequencies occurring intermittently. For example, if your brain is in a theta state of 4-7 cycles per second, you’re pretty darn relaxed. You can become a little more alert (alpha) or a little sleepier (delta). But if your brain is in a theta wave state with no alpha (more alert) or beta (very much more alert) waves intermixed, you’re unconscious. You won’t be able to finish this article.

So how can you get your brain into a certain sate, for example theta (very relaxed, even drowsy) or alpha (relaxed and still alert)? Meditation is one way for sure. Sit comfortably, in loose-fitting clothing, without distractions of pinched waistlines or lopsided seating, breathe deeply, focus on your breath, consciously slow your breath, and so on. Repeat for 30 minutes a day for 10 years. Pick a variation you’re comfortable with.

Another way to get into a theta state is to take the path of a shamanistic initiation. This involves drums and rattles of course, at a very slow, very low vibration of about 4-7 cycles per second. You could incorporate the use of a mind-altering substance to arrive at theta, or use the theta drumming to get you into an altered mental state.

This introduces an interesting concept, that sound vibration can change the state of one’s consciousness. Unfortunately, to create sounds in the lab or studio that will direct your mind toward a certain outcome is a little tricky, because you wouldn’t be able to hear the sound. “What? I just paid $300 for these lousy CD’s and there’s nothing on them?” (You can see how that would be problematic.)

So the way the audio scientist conveys that information to you is by way of an inaudible-to-your-ears tone that your brain creates when stimulated by two different but very closely related tones through stereo headphones. Without headphones two sound waves only seven cycles apart might sound alike to you, or might sound like two different notes, but no big deal. When heard through headphones, your left and right ears convey the true tone, and your brain compares the cycles per second heard in one ear to the cycles per second heard in the other ear. In the case of the seven cycle difference, the brain raises its hand and says “Seven, the answer is seven.” You can’t hear it shouting; it’s just a quick noise, a beat, well below your audible hearing. But the brain gets fixated on it, so long as the two differing stimuli continue to vibrate the earbones. “Seven, seven, beat, beat, beat…”

It’s the binaural beat, the sound (called a “beat”) the brain makes as it subtracts one tone from another. It’s all very mathematical, so you may be very glad this happens below your consciousness. Precisely because you are not aware of it, it is not possible for you to resist your brain’s magnetism toward that beat of seven, seven, seven.

The two tones coming in through your stereo headphones may sound a bit warbly to you till your brain adapts. What the entrainment audio is accomplishing then is to get your brain to slow down, way down, in this case to a seven, which is the upper end of the theta scale. You would be drowsy. That might be a good tone for falling asleep. Mix in a little delta and you’re off to dreamland…providing you have enough alpha to provide pictures for your dreams.

On the opposite pole of entrainment would be audio files designed to increase alertness, improve creativity or even heighten genius. In those cases, your brain would be creating tones in the 13-40 cycles per second range. You could probably hear many of them, since human hearing generally starts at about 20 cycles per second.

By carefully selecting the sound files to which you expose your brain, such as from the library at Total Tranquility by Holothink, you can aid your achievement of greater relaxation, better sleep, improved memory, or any of a dozen other desirable states of consciousness.

Binaural beats work because they trigger brain responses at a virtually irresistible level. We say nearly irresistible because certain diseases or days in a menstrual cycle can prevent their being heard and responded to. But in general, a series of binaural beats can train most anyone’s brain to do something that they might have a difficult time achieving on their own.

A binaural beat is a perceived sound. There you have it. It isn’t real. Except to your brain. Here’s what happens…Sounds are scientifically created to stimulate a desired result. The developer of the binaural beat audio is going to deliver a sound at .2 to 30 Hz. Remember, a hertz is one cycle (loosely a vibration), and the number in front of it says how many happen in a second. Many desired outcomes for binaural beats call for a wave at 20 or fewer Hz. Since the human ear generally begins to hear at 20 Hz—and all the way up to 20,000 Hz—you see the problem: the technician is trying to get your brain to hear a sound that neither you nor the technician can consciously hear.

Your brain actually creates the binaural beat from tones your binaural beat technician supplies, with a little scientific ingenuity. Your audio file contains stereo tonal stimulation. It could be music, but really all it has to be is carefully controlled sounds. The one you hear in your left ear must be different from the one you hear in your right ear. For example, if your left ear hears a tone vibrating at 435 Hz and your right ear hears one vibrating at 425 Hz, your magnificent brain computes the difference (yes, Virginia, you can do math), in this example 10 Hz.

The 10 Hz exists as a mathematical difference of the vibration between two sounds. The brain turns that 10 Hz into a beat, and that beat of 10 Hz sends a message of relaxation to the mind. A lower number stimulates deeper relaxation and a higher number encourages alertness.

For this to work, the originating tones must be below 1500 Hz, even below 1000 Hz. And the difference between what the left and right ears hear must be lower than 30. (You can see why a lot of times it doesn’t sound like music!) If the difference is larger than 30, the brain simply logs that as “bass and tenor,” or something like that—two separate notes—and no instructions are transferred to the control tower.

In a way, the brain is blending the tones and playing with the difference. It’s similar to the way the eyes work actually. Remember from art the “dots of Seurat”? The Parisian pointillist Georges Seurat developed a style of painting that separated colors out, much like a kindergartner’s palette, and let the eyes of the beholders blend them. Yellow dots next to blue dots produced the color green to the eye!

While it was at first a travesty on the artistic front, it was the forerunner of modern color printing. Even today, all four-color printing is done by running color separations of cyan, yellow, magenta and black over paper with the dots not entirely overlapping, but rather coloring the spaces between the last speckeling of dots. You may have an ink jet printer that performs similarly, even if it uses more than four color cartridges. Put a magnifying glass—a strong one, preferably a jeweler’s loop—over a printed page, even one from a magazine or book, and you will see the dots that are far smaller than the tip of Seurat’s brush, but still the same principle. Your eye blends what is there to form what is not there.

Seurat was ahead of his time. Remember early computer color monitors—RGB (red, green and blue)? Seurat was as much a scientist as an artist. So was Heinrich Wilhelm Dove who discovered this audio phenomenon in 1839.

Discover how binaural beats enhance meditation

Would others describe you as impatient?

Do you like instant fixes?

Truth-or-dare: have you on any occasion avoided or dismissed meditation because it might take too much time from your already-busy life?

If you answered yes then you’re going to love binaural beats. You see, binaural beats get you “there” faster than you could get there on your own. So you save time and if you’re an experienced meditator, you’ll go deeper and achieve (or “non-achieve” ) more.

Here’s the technical description of how they work. (Skip to the next paragraph if all you want is why you should use them.) Binaural beats emerge from tones (like from a tuning fork) that hit each (bi) of your ears (aural) at a different frequency. For example 410 Hz in one ear and 400 Hz in the other. (One hertz equals one wave or fluctuation per second. Four hundred Hz means 400 cycles per second.) Your brain, infinite genius that it is—and because you’re using headphones to listen to the binaural sounds—attempts a “perceptual integration” of the two sounds. In other words, it averages the difference, and in this case calls it a 405 Hz sound, which is the tone it “chooses” to hear, and therefore each side of your brain, differently.

It has been said that binaural beats may become the mind altering pseudo drug of the future. Note it says pseudo drug. Binaural beats are not a drug - they’re sound. In fact, they’re closer to music or self-improvement tapes than to brain-bending pharmacology.

The really good news is that the effect of the beat can be scientifically structured to relax or stimulate you—or something else entirely—controlled by the creator of the sound files and which ones you order. And of course the level of attention (or not) you pay to the sounds as you listen has a significant influence on the effect they have on you.

This is how binaural beats can serve you as “instant meditation.” It may take as few as five minutes for your brain to begin reprogramming you. Remember, this is YOUR brain, not a cult leader nor an enemy! Your brain is discovering by way of experimentation that it has many more levels, layers, compartments and cells that can be awakened and devoted to work for you, as it always has.

You may find yourself able to experience things you’ve heretofore only read about. What about kicking insomnia out the door, for example? Would you like to increase your sense of well-being? Experience euphoria without running a marathon, even if a suitable sexual partner is not available? What about speed-reading or lucid dreaming or something as universally desirable as less-stress?

What we’re really talking about here is your new-found ability to control your own brain by sending it to school, a school populated by binaural beat teachers (please don’t confuse this with beat-ing! Binaurals are your friend, possibly the best friend you’ve ever had). You want your brain to enroll in new training, sometimes called entrainment.

Your result on the other side of entrainment, or new brain wave training through binaural beats, is a brain wave frequency of your choice. Do you want to be calmer? Is more alert better suited to you? More excitable? Or more relaxed? You pick what your own knowing tells you, sign up your brain through Total Tranquility by Holothink, and wait for the amazing results.

You’ll discover you’re the person you always thought you were, believed you were, yet had trouble putting forth so others could see you the way you knew yourself to be.

It’s worth a fortune, isn’t it? And yet here it is so accessible. Go on. Be the best YOU you always knew you were.
